The subject areas covered by the archive are grouped largely by material. This means
that for each material both its winning or manufacture and its use are grouped together.
For example under the subject area “Stone” films and sound related to quarrying,
processing and masonry work are all included.
There is also a subject heading “General
Building” which encompasses films and sound clips which show a range of different
building techniques and a category “Engineering Works” which includes material on
bridges, roads etc.
